Mühle been manufacturing premium shaving equipment for awhile, and now intends to make a major dent in the USA. Mühle's products are manufactured in Germany. Mühle offers bristle brushes, synthetic badger brushes, and badger brushes in 3 grades of badger hair:
- Standard grade "Pure Badger" is a high quality grade excellent at retaining water and known for firmness at the tip
- Their best value grade "Best Badger + Fine Badger", is notably softer, and is a mixture of machine and hand-fabricated hair. The main mass of the knot is machined and trimmed, with the finer hairs inserted by hand.
- Their finest badger grade "Handcrafted Silvertip Badger" uses nothing but the finest materials and is entirely produced by hand, with no trimming of the ends of the hair which meet your face as to pertain the softest possible character.
Our measurements listed here are done by hand from the actual stock. We measure the knots by compressing upon the outer diameter with a caliper. These may vary a bit from other distributors, but can be regarded as consistent from brush to brush within this site.

Mühle's Travel Brush is the neatest design we've seen. The handle encases the brush head, but unlike every other one on the market the brush head itself is attached to a distinct screw threading. Presumably it could easily be exchanged if need be. It has a little knot and the threads have extremely fine machining tolerances. I've been a telescope junkie for years and want to pull my hair out when a cheap filter doesn't fit a good eyepiece or vice versa. None of that here. Its really light, too, made from strong anodized aluminum. I don't get why every travel brush doesn't factor weight into their equation. I'll certainly fight for grams and millimeters when I'm on the go, and I have to have a brush that dries extremely fast, too. Check, check, and check. Now available in either pure badger or Mühle's faux-silvertip "Silvertip Fibers" knot. I'm going for the synthesizer and never looking back; its extreme drying speed's worth a bit of scritch. The bottom of the brush handle/cover has an air hole.

| Get a good look at the faux-silvertip knot from straight down main street as shown above; it comes in around ~21mm diameter x ~50mm loft, and has a flatter, broader top than does the stay-at-home new-for-2011 synthetics shown below. It is rather intense knot, given to painter's strokes but not suited to pointing straight at your face (as is the functionally less dense 31K256 below, for example). It worked well enough with a Valobra shave stick on try #1 for me to know I've found my perfect travel brush.

| Mühle 39K256 Synthetic Badger Brush The 39K256's another high-end synthetic fiber brush with a lathe-turned handle, sporting new-for-2011 knot fibers developed by Mühle themselves. Just as with the legacy synthetic fibers, this is a 100% vegan affair. A plus for the new synthetic guy; feeling up the knot with your fingers blindfolded, it would be tough to distinguish from real silvertip badger; I doubt I could. Check out the 2nd picture of the knot from above. In use, the new fibers have advantages and disadvantages versus the legacy Mühle/Omega fibers. In softness of tips, I prefer the older fibers shown in the knot styles above; they certainly seem softer. In water/heat retention and lathering ability, they seem equals. But beyond appearances, the new "Silvertip Fibers" have one trait which will be seen as advantageous to many; they have substantial backbone (roughly equivalent to a Simpsons Commodore X1 or Vulfix 2233/374), whereas the older style's about as floppy, pliant a knot as exists (much smaller, but roughly equivalent to a Vulfix 2236 or 377 in 'flop'). We sell plenty of the big floppy Vulfixes, of course, and I enjoy both a good 'loving mop' like their #377 as well as scrubby little things like the boar traveller from Omega. Who wants the same experience daily when combining hobby and chore?

Muhle Basic Brush Stands Made of acrylic and w/ adhesive backing allowing you to stick on a wall. Available in black, clear, cream, tortoise, and marble, they've a tapered neck that funnels from ~25mm to a ~21mm opening, essentially allowing any brush with 18-24mm knot to fit fine except the Muhle travel brushes and other 'turnback' travel brushes, such as Omega 50014, Vulfix turnback, and Simpsons 'The Major'. There's ~70mm between top of stand and top of stand's bottom surface, so your brush head should have plenty of space. Because Muhle's 'Stylo' shaving brushes have such heavy handles, we don't recommend them with this basic stand. Gotta use that "RHM70" stand for those guys |

 | The Mühle RV Plastic Helicoid Brush Tube borrows from the best in the world of telescope eyepieces, but of course a much different size. This is a sturdy, vented plastic tube which twists open and closed, and has an internal space which accommodates most brushes one would practically choose to take on travels. The maximum outer dimensions are about 2x5", and internally it accepts brushes with handle diameters of up to 41mm. There's more internal height clearance than would be needed for any brush but a turnback, which of course has its own unique container. The RV tubes weigh just 1 ounce. Shipping it by itself is comparatively expensive and LOTS of folks have taken advantage of this, so I apologize that we have to offer it at two prices. | |
