The Unique Shaving Soap from France; Long Wearing Hard Milled Style

The Osma Rasage shaving soap has been purged of unnecessary water and air during the production.  When you buy water in a soap/croap/cream [these are all still soap to any chemist, remember], it may be easier to use, but the cost per use skyrockets.  Consequently, the Osma shaving soap Rasage is truly economical soap.  It is also somewhat matched in its scent profile to the preshave oil and aftershave balm.  They make a 130g soap that is exactly the same parfum, this one however is a bit more subdued, but I think intrinsically the much better soap formulation, too.

Load Fervently, Use in-Hand, Maybe Splash w/ HOT Water Too

While the plastic reservoir’s fine for storage, to make the most of this soap you may wish to work with it outside the reservoir, and to start by putting a tiny bit of very hot water atop it [to soften the surface] while showering prior to shaving, at least for the first few uses after you get your puck; that’ll ultimately cost you total shaves out of the soap for the $ you’ve paid in, but it’ll also make a bit easier time of things, so it might be a concession of interest.

You see, truly hard-milled soaps can often present a perpetual challenge of getting enough product loaded on to the shaving brush in the first place, especially to us Yanks, blessed with patience as we are.  Indeed, since Geo F. Trumper changed their formula about ten years ago to become even rock-harder than it already was, hard milled shaving soaps can even be too hard for their own damn good!

In any case, I recommend taking the soap in hand and load with a wet brush held with knot partially skyward, and soap above.  Load until the water’s all been absorbed and the foam’s rich and creamy.  Get it a bit tarry, and take that to the face to slather around.  You’ll need more water to your water/air/soap ratio now, so go get a few *drops* at a time to add to your knot to play with the tar already on your face, until you get the foam the way you seek.  You can use this way and still have a very economical running cost.  This Osma “Savon a Barbe” has quite good lather stability once you’ve dialed it in on your face, or in your little shaving bowl if you must.

Soap disc; ~2.8 x 1.2″ (71x31mm) and 100 grams (~3.5 ounces) net weight.

~3×2″ (76x50mm) WxH plastic  jar, or ~2.8×1.2″ soap refill in plastic shrink wrap.

Lightly scented (and matched to the preshave oil and balm).  The scent here, while certainly not powerful like the American artisanal offerings, is nothing at all akin to the “your grandfather’s soap” which we also sell, which is a scent that always reminds me of this incredible scene.  It is an elegant, sophisticated, and frankly sexy odor.
