Description

You may have heard of this razor’s topographical sibling from someone, or here.    Anyway, “Veni Vidi Vici” deliberately uses an asymmetrical die form, , ground in a special way, by a talented bird, using functional but extremely antique tools.   Spiffy sculpted spine’s here and bocote wood is the timber for the handle.   Class all the way.  Weight’s about fifty-six grams, give or take.

It has all the typical flaws of production that vintage French style is known for, but it is also the most impossibly-thin and pliant cutting edge you’ll ever get to see in any modern production razor.    This particular blank of steel.   You can beat this thing with 5/8″ and similar razors all day long on eBay with patience to look, but it is hard to find a mint similarly-thin razor with similar meat left on the bone as buying this new.  Furthermore, the steel is notably soft and pliant, it has great capacity to bend, like the vintage Sheffield Steel stuff and especially the ones that had “BEST BEST BEST BEST….” written on the non-show side…

This one and the snake one are the same precise shape, “Steed” is a little different from these two due to that secondary ridge.   However, I firmly believe as I write this that all are being forged currently, and that these finished productions are from modern forgings off of vintage dies using modern steel.

This company is absolutely adamant that the razor is dispatched from them already “Shave Ready”, that glorious term of fools without the mind of science to discern the subjective from the objective.  As such, we will not further hone this brand unless you instruct us specifically to do so.    This is a razor that begs to be used with the convex thingy, that’s for sure; and for me, thinking of someone “fixing” this razor by recreating its cutting edge via their reference-grade-flat whetstones is the mental equivalent of nails on chalkboard slate.   It’ll never, ever be as good as it was if you do that, because it’ll never, ever be every bit as thin.
