The Rein Borste (or Rein Dachs w/ badgers) boar shaving brush is “Handmade in Germany” by a Bavarian company for over 100 years. The Superior Shave is the sole US importer. They’re offered in several hair types, with various handles available for each type of knot. In all cases, weighing, gathering, forming, and gluing the knots is a handmade affair by skilled craftsmen who apprentice for three years in a dedicated school of brush making.

True Germans Gonna German
Ahh, the Germans – if you can’t love how anal they are, you need to travel more. No need for ‘police lineup’ images due to the strict control of production of this boar shaving brush. They’re remarkably consistent from specimen to specimen.
Multiple Handle Options Available
The Reine Borste boar knot’s available in various handles for your pleasure – this same knot was made in a hourglass black plastic, but sadly, because of the USFWS and their incredible ability to assign a lot of overhead on a small parcel, we can no longer import anything made in the EU that’s USFWS-governed and as economical as these brushes…buy ’em while u can, tough guy!
This plastic handle quality’s eeks just above entry-level similarly-priced Italians in inspiring a slight increase in the substantial. This doesn’t make it any better, however – it is just a little less “empty plastic” feeling in hand.
A European Union firm produces these handles (these folks don’t make handles, like Simpsons for example).
