Description

This is a difficult soap to import, as it is produced on an island in the Mediterranean and physically fragile, and somewhat beautiful.  Shipping cost is high from Corsica to Florida, and from Florida to you, but it is significantly cheaper than a plane ticket.

And oh, the heavenly smell of this object’s dissolution in to water.  It has taken me to getting to the second half of the admittedly odd shaped cube [which I do NOT care for, but this is how they offer this recipe of soap] to really appreciate it, but now I can decree to you, the reader, just what makes this chunk of rose soap so good.  It has the smell of the physical petals, is what I like about it.  That’s a ‘creamy’ sort of smell, different than the essence of rose nestled best in the base of deep new buds.

There’s a feeling associated to the softness of a beautiful rose, touching its fine petal texture which perfectly marries delicate and supple, and the smell you can place around this is both rosey and greenery, the greenery from the living petal part of the equation.  This soap smells more like those physical petals than just an excellent rose parfum choice, if that’s what can make sense best.  For strictly great rose parfum per buck and points for power, Savonitto’s is still best.

This scent’s more complex, subtle, deep, it makes you think and it is never overpowering but it is always essentially rose.  Some roses don’t smell sweet so much as they smell soft, because they are.

Roja Dove once made an amazing Rose parfum which I bought and my wife sadly left in a hotel room, and while it was certainly sweet of rose, what made it stand out is that it smelled like the spicy thorny part of a rose bush that can hurt you, where you can smell soil and get clipped by thorns.  It was not the sweetest rose, and finding a winner in that segment considering pure sweetness and power (sillage/strength/longevity) is an extremely crowded marketplace of perpetual targeting.  But the sweetness portion of Roja’s rose was deep, the base note exactly what it feels like to stick your nose deep in a really fresh young rose bloom, and there were bright peppery top notes of a fresh living rose bush whenever you would leave and return to the presence of its scent.  Amazing, just like a damned bush.

This soap is ‘just like a really soft rose petal‘.  Also its physical texture as it wears is quite velvety.
