Description
This is an excellent quality Dan’s Hard Arkansas stone which measures ~13x13x102mm, and has had two facets shaped to be used as files as I’ve been doing in the various YouTube channel content of late.
Using the “the Jarrod plate“, one side’s shaped as 6.5’Øx25’Ø, the other side 25×6.5′, and a third facet was flattened and polished vs my grade-B surface plate, it is a little smoother than the Dan’s factory flat, but not flatter…the side where you can see the curvature easily with your naked eye is the side you use first on the razor bevel, then use the side you can’t easily see the curve (but don’t worry, the razor, or a ruler, definitely know it is there!), which is the opposite 13x102mm facet from the very curved side.
As a file shape, ~13x13x102mm is good, but I think I would choose 24x40x100mm if I could draw up anything I’d like. This isn’t bad, though, it works great as a file, it is shaping it to be such a thing that’s the challenge (24x40x100mm would be easier to shape even though 24x100mm has more real estate than 13x102mm).
Includes original storage tube.
