Description
This is a combination Washita and Hard Arkansas stone of unknown manufacture, likely produced some time in the second half of the twentieth century.
It measures 50x100x24mm maximum dimensions, and weighs 252 grams.
The Washita side has been shaped with the The Superior Shave exclusive “Jarrod plate”, a costly 9x11x0.5″ concave CNC-machined aluminum lapping plate which has a special ellipsoidal concavity upon it, chosen for its nearly ideal use with producing convex whetstones which can, in turn, produce concave bevels upon razors and other fine cutting instruments.
The Washita side has an effective ~6.5’Ø down the 100mm length, and a ~25’Ø across the 50mm width. You use this to establish a concave bevel upon your razor/knife/etc.
The Hard Arkansas side has an effective ~25’Ø down the 100mm length, and a ~6.5’Ø across the 50mm width. You use this to refine the apex of the bevel upon your razor/knife/etc., after it has first been established with the more intense concavity via the Washita side.
