Description
A lot of hard labor here – art as whetstone!
This vintage Norton HB5 hard Arkansas stone has had one of its two ~23x126mm ‘side’ facets – the one without the Norton writing, obviously – shaped via diamond sandpaper and the “the Jarrod plate” to have a convex surface with 6.5’Ø down the ~5″ length and a 25’Ø across the 23mm girth. You would use it in the manner I’ve recently done in the YouTube videos.
After that, the ‘top’ ~2×5″ facet has had its surface shaped to be the second step, so the 25′ diameter is down the 5″ length and the 6.5′ effect is across the 2″ width.
The ‘bottom’ 2×5″ facet has been flattened on my Grade B Grizzly surface plate with the Z-Lion diamond sandpapers atop it. You can use this as a flat reference to gently de-burr as the quiet fellow has done in the recent videos.
